The Tampa Bay Rays were founded in the year 1998 and were voted into the American League. They were also voted into the AL East with, Yankees, Orioles, Red Sox, and the Blue Jays. The Tampa Bay Rays have 2 retired numbers and those are 12 and 42. The Rays have won 1 AL championship in 2008 also the same year when they won thier only division title but the year didn't end perfect because in the World Series the Rays lost to the Phillies in 5 games. The current manager for the Rays is Joe Maddon and he has managed the Rays since 2006. In 2010, the rays won the AL East. They lost to the Texas Rangers, 3-2.

The Rays have had many star players in the last few years, such as, Carl Crawford, Evan Longoria, Carlos Pena. It is difficult for the Rays to keep some of there star players, due to players incresing their salary.
