Jackie Robinson== Jackie Robinson was a second baseman for the Brooklyn Dodgers from 1947 to 1956. He is in the hall of fame for being an amazing player as well as changing baseball and America. He was the first ever African American to play in the Big Leagues. His jersey number, 42, is retired by every team around the league.

Career[]

Robinson began his career in 1945 in the Negro Leagues on the Kansas City Monarchs. He was very good there and appeared in the Negro Leagues all star game. He then took tryouts from the Red Sox and Dodgers. Dodgers general manager Branch Rickey hand picked Robinson as a possible black signing. He interviewed Robinson, trying to figure out whether he could keep up with the insults headed his way. He would play for the Montreal Royals in 1946 and would break the color barrier in 1947. He was one of the best players in the league during his ten year career.
